আওয়ামী লীগ সরকারি বাহিনীর উপর নির্ভরশীল উল্লেখ করে বিএনপির স্থায়ী কমিটির সদস্য আমির খসরু মাহমুদ চৌধুরী বলেন, বিএনপির নির্ভরশীলতা হচ্ছে জনগণের উপর।সোমবার (৯ র্মাচ) বিএনপির প্রার্থী ডা. শাহাদাত হোসেনের গণসংযোগের সময় তিনি এ কথা বলেন।
এসময় খসরু বলেন, বিএনপিকে মোকাবিলার জন্য আওয়ামী লীগকে বিভিন্ন কৌশল অবল্বন করতে হচ্ছে। আওয়ামী লীগের উপর জনগণের আস্থা নেই। বিএনপি জনগণের উপর আস্থা রেখেই নির্বাচন করছে।ধানের শীষে ভোট দেওয়ার আহ্বান জানিয়ে খসরু বলেন, আজকের গণসংযোগে হাজার হাজার মানুষের উপস্থিতি প্রমাণ করে বিএনপির মেয়রপ্রার্থী ডা. শাহাদাত একজন জনপ্রিয় প্রার্থী। শাহাদাত হোসেন অত্যন্ত ত্যাগী ও পরিচ্ছন্ন নেতা। একজন পেশাজীবী হিসেবেও তার জনপ্রিয়তা অতুলনীয়। তার বিজয়ী হওয়ার অনেক উপাদান আছে। বিএনপির নেতাকর্মীরাও সকলেই ঐক্যবদ্ধ। আশাকরি বিপুল ভোটে বিএনপির বিজয় লাভ করবে।এ সময় উপস্থিত ছিলেন সাবেক মন্ত্রী জাফরুল ইসলাম চৌধুরী, নগর বিএনপির সভাপতি মেয়রপ্রার্থী ডা. শাহাদাত হোসেন, সাধারণ সম্পাদক আবুল হাসেম বক্কর, বিএনপির কেন্দ্রীয় শ্রম বিষয়ক সম্পাদক এএম নাজিম উদ্দীন ও নগর বিএনপির সিনিয়র সহসভাপতি আবু সুফিয়ানসহ বিএনপির অঙ্গ সংগঠনের নেতাকর্মীরা।
